Gamers hoping to get their hands on a Playstation 5 this Christmas will have to wait a little longer with stock completely cleaned out until next year.
The next-generation console sold out within minutes of its release in Australian retail stores on November 12.
Big W claims to have sold out in just two hours - its fastest selling pre-order in history - while the JB Hi-Fi website crashed because of online traffic.
Now Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced it has completely run out of stock and admitted it does not expect it to be replenished for a couple of months.

Sydney father Scott McCulloch was one of the lucky few who got his hands on a console for his children in time for the holiday season.
He told Daily Telegraph he had never witnessed a shortage of gaming consoles on this scale.
'I think the PS4 had a lot of follow up stock from memory within weeks so at worst you might be waiting a month,' he said.
'But for this, the demand has way outstripped the supply on this one.'
The only remaining hope of buying a Playstation 5 anytime soon rests on scalpers, who are hawking off the popular console for nearly nine times the retail price.

Though some private sellers have been caught selling the console on Ebay for as much as $5,000.
Other sellers have priced the consoles at $4,500 or $3,000 or $2,000.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been linked to the record launch with more people staying at home and looking for means of entertainment.

The pandemic has also placed added strain on imports that have already been slowed by industrial action from port workers.
Retailers are facing major delays in receiving orders, with some items coming in two months late.
The Freight and Trade Alliance says the shipping industry is not likely to recover until 2021.
'The imbalance of import and export containers coming into Sydney has caused enormous landslide congestion with containers piling up at depots and transport operator yards all over Sydney.'
