Man, 30, is shot dead by intruders who forced their way into a granny flat in the middle of the night

A man has died after being shot during an alleged home invasion in Sydney's west. 

Police were called to a granny flat in Rymill Street, Tregear, shortly after 2.35am on Monday after reports of a shooting.

Two men had allegedly forced their way into the flat and attacked the resident before fleeing the scene. 

A 30-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his leg and shoulder. 

He was treated at the scene by paramedics but sadly died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation is now underway.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information about this to contact Mt Druitt Police or Crime Stoppers.
