Lorraine Chase has put the £1.8million Grade II-listed Georgian mansion that she bought for £85,000 up for sale.

Ms Chase, 69, originally bought the home with proceeds from her famous Campari adverts from the 1970s but is now looking to downsize.

The four-bedroom property, in a conservation area of Camberwell, has been her home since 1978 and is now on the market for £1.85million.

The elaborately decorated Grade II semi is on sale with Rightmove who have called it 'extraordinary' on their property website.

A source said: 'Lorraine's house is one of the most desirable in the area and is decorated to fit her colourful style.

'It has a lot of original features and is a combination of modern and period - with a touch of panto thrown in.

'It is unique and stuffed full of Lorraine's life over the last 40 years or more.'

Properties in the Camberwell conservation area are normally snapped up quickly and recently one in Camberwell Grove went for £1.65m.

Lorraine put the house on the market in September - almost a decade after she last tried to sell the wood-panelled Georgian pad.

The rigthmove website states: 'Extraordinary Grade II Georgian Four Bed Semi in Conservation Area.'

The site showcases the property with 35 glossy pictures, illustrating a vast array of ornaments, nick-nacks, a dressing room crammed with clothes and even an Impala's head.

The website continues: 'The original cook's range remains in the lower ground level of this wonderful home on Camberwell Grove.

'Such features are rarely found in these magnificent properties, and many rooms here enjoy original fireplaces too.

Lorraine also owned a cottage near Leeds, which she bought in 2003 while starring for three years in ITV1's Emmerdale. It is not known if she still owns it

'With a walk-in cellar, double bedrooms, rambling walled garden, conservatory, lower ground kitchen, dining room, utility room and vast double reception, this house ticks all the boxes of modern functionality while retaining the authenticity admired in period homes.

'Camberwell Grove falls inside a Conservation Area due to the impressive collection of Regency and Georgian houses lining it.'

It continues: 'Step inside to find a panelled foyer with coat and umbrella space before double doors open into the main living area.

'Thoughtfully opened up, this room has a double aspect and two main sitting areas where period fireplaces (with marble surrounds) take centre stage of each.

'Alcoves have bookshelves and cupboards already fitted and the original staircase falls between these two areas comfortably.

'Beautiful casement windows to the rear overlook the mature garden and French doors from the left side of the room takes you out through the conservatory. Presently this room encompasses a large office area with no trouble at all, such is it's generous proportion.

'Taking the stairs down (there's a deep, lit understairs cupboard), you find a respectably sized kitchen. This is a large room whose windows face towards the street.

To the right is the door into the original cellar, a really good size and full height.

'A formal dining room sits on the other side of the hall - use the saloon doors to reach it (ideal for carrying hot dishes through to your hungry guests).

'Find the range in the chimney breast, flanked by bespoke cupboards to each alcove. Natural tiles are underfoot, walls are emerald green and sliding glass doors open out to a paved lower ground terrace. Follow the door opposite the range into an utility area and downstairs w.c. 'Two double bedrooms and an attractive bathroom are on the first floor. Travelling up the original staircase you arrive facing a landing window.

'Facing the front of the house is the master bedroom, complete with stunning original fireplace and twin sash windows. Currently used as a dressing room is the second double having very deep wall to wall wardrobes delving back to the exterior wall.

'Pretty panels wrap the bathroom walls, painted in white. Exposed floorboards lift the room and the traditional suite fits the house perfectly. Up to the second floor for two further, bright double bedrooms. A very useful shower room is sandwiched between.

'Stone steps from the lower terrace will take you up to a further paved terrace, alternatively access the garden via the conservatory. This has large floor tiles and ample shelves for potted plants. Many delightful specimens are found outside including established eucalyptus, ivys and rhododendrons.

'At the rear is a sweet shed charmingly swamped with creepers. Life is easy from here, an excellent array of schools are at your fingertips.'

The comical adverts were filmed in exotic locations with Chase having drinks with an elegant, sophisticated gentleman suitor played by Jeremy Clyde.

Upon his romantic question 'Were you truly wafted here from paradise?', Chase would declare in her full cockney accent 'Nah, Luton Airport!'

The line became something of a catchphrase and inspired the 1979 hit record 'Luton Airport' by Cats U.K.

At the time Lorraine said she had been prompted to put the property on the market in the knowledge she was not getting any younger.

She added: 'I'm selling because I'm worried about maintaining my home in the future as I get older.

'I have always said I should move to a smaller house before I turn 60, but I have been so busy touring and doing the Edinburgh Festival that the moment has snuck up on me.'

Lorraine also owned a cottage near Leeds, which she bought in 2003 while starring for three years in ITV1's Emmerdale. It is not known if she still owns it.

Previously, she had her eye on a two-bedroom flat in a newly built luxury development nearby, but was beaten to to it by fellow actress Jenny Agutter.
