EXCLUSIVE: Elite private school graduate is charged with meth possession and a 'serious' incident at a hospital - as his mother learns she'll spend Christmas behind bars for allegedly stabbing him at home

A Scots College graduate allegedly stabbed by his mum was charged over a 'serious' incident at a Gold Coast hospital and possessing cannabis and meth.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal new details of the charges faced by Hugo Ball, 22, while he was studying in Queensland at Bond University earlier this year.

Court documents said Ball was charged with the offence of 'serious assault, resist or obstruct a public officer by biting, spitting, throwing bodily fluid or faeces'.

The alleged incident occurred on June 18 at Robina Hospital - where he was a patient that month.

Months later, Ball was also allegedly caught at Surfers Paradise on October 1 and charged with one count of possessing cannabis and another of methamphetamine.

The details can be revealed as his mother, Samantha Palmer, 55, is told she will be behind bars until next year.

Palmer did not apply for bail as had been expected on Wednesday morning, despite enlisting the support of a barrister, Nicholas Baltinos.

The case against her was adjourned until January 20 and bail was formally refused.

Bar another bail application before her next appearance, she will be in custody through Christmas and the New Year period.

The court has previously heard that Palmer has no criminal record whatsoever.

Charge sheets revealed she is charged with allegedly wounding her son over a 10 minute period on Saturday morning, between 1.30am and 1.40am.

As Ms Palmer faces her fifth night in the lock-up, photographs on Tuesday evening showed her son out of hospital and happy, with his arm in a sling.

The alleged stabbing victim, Hugo, has been described as a keen rugby player and, since graduating from his $33,000-a-year elite private school, a UFC enthusiast.

Hugo's family, sans his mother, is now divided between two multi-million dollar homes - one in Bellevue Hill and another in Paddington.

His mother, Palmer, and father, high-flying executive Ian Ball, are divorced.

The young man is now living at his father's spectacular five bedroom terrace, which actress Toni Colette reportedly once made an offer on.

Neighbours hadn't seen him at his mother and step-father James Tilley's $3.1million, sprawling Bellevue Hill home - the scene of Saturday's alleged crime - this week.

Palmer was arrested by police in her pearls and summer evening dress at 1.40am on Saturday.

Video at the time recorded her shrieking her new husband's name: 'Jamie, Jamie... I love you Jamie!'.

Police loaded Ms Palmer into the back of a wagon and later charged her with 'wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.'

Her lawyer, Darren Emery, said she plans to 'vigorously' defend the charge.

A bail hearing was told at the weekend that Hugo had stumbled into his home about 1.40am, hours after his curfew.

The court was reportedly told his mother allegedly attacked the young man after an 'incoherent' Hugo told her he had apparently been involved in a murder.

'He's come home and is acting erratically and he is walking around incoherently,' lawyer Darren Emery told the court, according to the Daily Telegraph.

'He tells her that he has committed a murder.'

Mr Emery claimed Ball had abused ice, heroin and valium after graduating from Scots in 2015.

Mr Emery told the court on Sunday Hugo had twice spent time at Robina Hospital, Queensland in recent months.

He had been studying at Bond University on the Gold Coast at the time he was charged with his own offences.

A source close to the family told Daily Mail Australia: 'We knew there was something going on up in Queensland.'

Ball was not required to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Lawyer Chris Hannay asked for a long adjournment, saying Ball had been hospitalised after an incident in Sydney.

'He has since been released into the care of his father,' Mr Hannay said.

He said his client would also undergo a mental health assessment.

The case returns to court in May 2021.
