Elite school graduate, 22, who was allegedly stabbed in the skull by his mum in one of Sydney's ritziest suburbs leaves hospital to hunker down at his dad's spectacular $5.5million home

The last time most people saw Hugo Ball, the Scots College graduate was being carried out of his own house on a stretcher, bleeding profusely.

But Daily Mail Australia can reveal the 22-year-old is back on his feet after he was allegedly stabbed by his mother in one of Sydney's wealthiest suburbs, Bellevue Hill.

Ball has been discharged from the city's St Vincent's Hospital and appeared injured, but happy, as he accepted a food delivery from a kind friend on Tuesday evening.

The labourer has been recovering at his corporate high flyer father Ian Ball's $5.5million Paddington terrace, his arm in a sling.

Meanwhile, his mother Samantha Palmer, 55, is herself due to face the family's troubles head on - applying for bail on Wednesday after spending four nights in custody for the alleged attack on her son.

Palmer was arrested by police in her pearls and summer evening dress at 1.40am on Saturday.

Video at the time recorded her shrieking her new husband's name: 'Jamie, Jamie... I love you Jamie!'.

Police loaded Ms Palmer into the back of a wagon and later charged her with 'wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.'

Her lawyer, Darren Emery, said she plans to 'vigorously' defend the charge. He told a court this past week she had no criminal record.

The alleged stabbing victim, Hugo, has been described as a keen rugby player and UFC enthusiast who has struggled with drugs since graduating from his $33,000-a-year elite private school.

Hugo's family, sans his mother, is now divided between two multi-million dollar homes - one in Bellevue Hill and another in Paddington.

The young man is now living at his father's spectacular five bedroom terrace, which actress Toni Colette reportedly once made an offer on.

Neighbours hadn't seen him at his mother and step-father James Tilley's $3.1million, sprawling Bellevue Hill home - the scene of Saturday's alleged crime - this week.

Hugo's parents Palmer and Mr Ball senior divorced in 'acrimonious' circumstances a decade ago, a court has heard.

Palmer remarried local businessman Mr Tilley in 2014. They were known in exclusive Bellevue Hill as a 'nice, normal family.'

Meanwhile, Hugo's dad has forged an extremely successful career and has held a number of senior executive roles.

These include CEO of infrastructure company Cardno, deputy CEO of Ernst and Young's local arm, while he is now an executive with an entertainment company. (Mr Ball senior declined to comment).

The Ball family appear to have enjoyed the fruits of hard labour - but have never before found themselves the talk of Sydney's uber-rich like this.

A bail hearing was told at the weekend that Hugo had stumbled into his home about 1.40am, hours after his curfew.

The court was reportedly told his mother allegedly attacked the young man after an 'incoherent' Hugo told her he had apparently been involved in a murder.

'He's come home and is acting erratically and he is walking around incoherently,' lawyer Darren Emery told the court, according to the Daily Telegraph.

'He tells her that he has committed a murder.'

Mr Emery claimed Ball had abused ice, heroin and valium after graduating from Scots in 2015.

Mr Emery told the court on Sunday Hugo had twice spent time at Robina Hospital, Queensland in recent months. He had been studying at Bond University there.

He had been studying at Bond University but Palmer and Mr Tilley were recently allowed to travel to the Gold Coast, without quarantining, to bring him home.

Separately, Hugo Ball himself had been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, while he was living in Queensland.

'We had a feeling something was going on in Queensland with the boy,' a source close to the family told Daily Mail Australia this week.

That case was also due to come before Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
