Chilling moment surfer, 17, watches on as two bronze whaler sharks circle his tiny boat moments after getting out of the water near a remote reef break
A teenage surfer's close encounter with two bronze whale sharks moments after he got out of the water has been caught on film.
Max Freedman, 17, was surfing with friends off of Geordie Bay, Rottnest Island, on November 19 when he climbed out of the water and onto a boat.
His feet were still hanging off the side of the boat when two sharks began to inspect the boat.
'Oh my God,' his friends could be heard saying in the video.
'Max literally just got out of the water'.
Max said he and two friends had to paddle through open water to get back to their boat after a surf.
He was the last one to return to the boat, about five minutes after the other two boys on the trip.
'They brought the boat closer to come pick me up and as I get out I put my board in the boat and I hop up... a couple of seconds later we see two bronze whalers swim straight under the boat,' he told the West Australian.

'They circled us for a while. They were just chilling.
'They are pretty harmless but it is scary to think that if the boat didn't come to pick me up I would have been still paddling while they came next to me.'
He said he had seen many bronze whale sharks in the area before.
Shark attacks from Bronze whalers are not common but do happen.
The species killed a swimmer in Tathra, NSW, in 2014 and was also responsible for another death at Bunker Bay, WA, in 2011.
