He made his name in the world of hip-hop, but Will.i.am showed his love for classical music by pushing his button for opera duo Barbara And Carla on The Voice UK.
The judge turned around within seconds of the pairs' opening line, declaring it 'love at first note.'
But with the rest of the celebrity coaches following suit, Will had to convince the singing partners just why he was the mentor for the job.
Dope-ra! Will.i.a, shows his love for classical music by securing operatic duo Carla and Barbara
And in true Will fashion, he also made a joke about their synchronised style: 'If you were my act, I'd make you wear matching jackets all the time!'
The two ladies arrived on stage in shiny green jackets and wowed the audience and the judges with their rendition of The Flower Duet from Léo Delibes’ opera Lakmé.
Love at fist note: Will turned round within seconds of hearing the women sing on The Voice UK stage
Old friends: The two women met ten years ago while on a travelling production of Madama Butterfly in the United States
Chuffed! The judge can't contain his excitement at the prospect of working with the opera singers
'We have very big voices for little people. A lot of people think women our age need to be mothers but times are changing we live in a world where everything’s possible,' Carla said ahead of their blind audition.
At first Danny O'Donoghue, Jessie J and Tom Jones were reluctant to turn around, with Danny saying: 'I want to press it, but I dont know what I can do for them.'
Uncertain: Jessie J, Danny O'Donoghue and Tom Jones weren't sure about how they would mentor the duo
Shocked! Danny's mind was blown by the gravity of the decision to turn around, or not
Full house: Eventually all judges pressed their buttons, yet still wandering just how they would guide Carla and Barbara
'The only thing is I don’t know much about opera. I’m not qualified to coach anybody in that area, but i would love for you to be on my team, it would be my pleasure to give it a go because you sound wonderful together.'
None of the judges could match the enthusiasm of Will.i.am, and now as they bring together hip hop and opera, Barbara and Carla - with the help of the Black Eyed Peas star - can do what R. Kelly tried and failed to do: create a globally credible hip hopera.
Step aside R. Kelly! Will.i.am and his classical act are going to reclaim the hip hopera
Secured: Emily Worton impressed Will, but he didn't let anyone know about it until the last second
One for Jessie: Sarah Cassidy picked the Price Tag singer as her mentor on Saturday night
He feigned disinterest to Danny, Jessie and Tom to put doubt in their minds, only to push his button for Emily at the very last second.
His total acts now stand at seven with five more to find.
Good gamble: LB Robinson covered Tom Jone's She's A Lady which secured he spot on the Welshman's team
Bad cover: Tom Gregory and Laura Prescott failed
to impress Danny and Jessie with a rendition of The Scripts For The
First Time, and Miss J's Who You Are
After singing Al Green's Lets Stay Together, with a falsetto to rival Minnie Riperton, Sarah had every judge push their button.
But it was Jessie's touching words about the music industry being 'a whole different game for a girl' that persuaded the Scottish singer to stick with the female judge.
Team Danny: Karl Michaels and Laura Oakes were top choice for The Scripts frontman
No more weddings! Laura hopes she can now perform on a bigger stage where she's the star, not the bride and groom
The Birmingham city support worker sang Tom Jones' She's A Lady, and impressed the Welshman enough to make him the latest addition to his team of seven.
Danny added two acts to his team: Karl Michaels and Laura Oakes.
Come back next year: The judges didn't think Jessica Steele was ready for the competition just yet
Not enough: Alice Fredenham and David Kidd failed to impress the judging panel
26-year old Karl was on the brink of
having a recording career until his label dropped, forcing him to make
ends meet by working as window cleaner during the day and a bartender at
night.Thankfully his performance had every judge turning round, but he eventually chose Danny, because he shares an Irish ancestry.
Laura's cover of Florence And The Machine's Spectrum, convinced The Script frontman to turn around, and give her a chance to sing on a bigger stage than the weddings she normally frequents.
Sadly for Alice Fredenham, David Kidd, Nathan Tatham and Jessica Steele, their The Voice UK journey came to an end on Saturday night.
Still needing to complete their teams of twelve, The Voice UK returns with another round of Blind Auditions Saturday 27th on BBC 1, at 8.20pm.
Bad choice: Tourettes sufferer Nick Tatham, 29, would have got through if had sung a song more suited to his voice
