Their back gardens used to be havens of peace and quiet for hard-working families.
But the calm has been shattered by a 'monster' warehouse which towers over homes from just 40ft away.
Families claim the 112,000 sq ft building, which will be completed shortly, has knocked up to £40,000 off the value of properties.
It is one of three warehouses being built behind the houses in Harlow, Essex.

Andy Parker, 55, and partner Pauline Linger, 60, say the warehouse threatens to keep them trapped in a home which is worth less and harder to sell.
Engineering manager Mr Parker has lived there with pharmacist Miss Linger, 60, since 1994.
They normally enjoy relaxing in the back garden but say this has not been possible for two years because of the construction work.
Mr Parker said the warehouse was a 'hideous eyesore'.

He added: 'We have had two years of hell. In the last couple of years, we had an Amazon warehouse built and now this one is going up, which is a lot nearer to the residents.
'We have lived here for nearly 30 years with lovely, clear blue skies. But now we look out and all we can see is metal.'
He said families had approached local Tory MP Robert Halfon and councillors for help.
Mr Parker claimed: 'Because it is bringing money and jobs to the community they the have not cared about the residents.'
Harlow Council stressed the planning applications were 'correctly consulted on in line with our legal requirements' before being approved.
Mr Halfon said: 'I will continue to do all I can to support residents and represent their views.'
