the 41-year-old 'arrogant' children's cancer charity trustee who had a string of lovers murdered his beautiful marketing executive girlfriend 22 before committing suicide'

An 'arrogant' children's cancer charity trustee is believed to have murdered his 22-year-old girlfriend before taking his own life in a suspected murder-suicide.

Ben Green, 41, who neighbours say had a string of young girlfriends, was found dead alongside 'beautiful' marketing executive Maddie Durdant-Hollamby at his house in Kettering, Northamptonshire on Friday.

Detectives have said they are treating Maddie's death as murder and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with their investigation.

Maddie's family said their 'hearts are broken', describing her as a 'beautiful person both inside and out.'

Mr Green was a trustee of cancer charity Team Mikayla and also held the position of Marketing Director at Alumasc Water Management Solutions.

In the wake of his death, neighbours have described him as 'arrogant' and said Maddie was the latest in a string of young girlfriends.

The neighbour, who lived next to Green for 18 months and did not want to be named, told the Sun: 'He would have different women coming over a lot.

'They were similar to her . They would be young, aged between 22 and 30. He had at least three girlfriends. They would last about six months and then another one would appear.'

She said he was 'very difficult' to get to know and dubbed him 'arrogant'.

She said: 'Sometimes I would say hi and he wouldn't even respond.

'He would say hi to my husband, but not to me. He would look at me as if to say 'why are you talking to me?'

'It's shocking to find out what happened. It made me feel very sick.'

Mr Green was found alongside Maddie, of Wimblington, Cambridgeshire, by officers just after 1pm following a report of concern for her welfare, Northamptonshire Police said, adding that they were treating her death as a murder and were not looking for any other suspects.

A friend told the Sun: 'Ben and Maddie had been together for about two years and were really happy. They'd recently been abroad on holiday and he has just been promoted at work.

'They had everything going for them and everything to live for. I cannot believe he has killed Maddie and then taken his own life.

'He doesn't have it in his bones to do that. I don't know what's happened, I don't know what's gone wrong but it's very distressing.

'Ben's a good guy. He had children from a previous relationship and they'll be devastated to lose their dad.'

In a statement on Sunday Maddie's family said they were 'absolutely devastated' at the loss of 'our beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece.'

They added: 'Our hearts are broken and we cannot begin to imagine life without her. The shock and pain we are feeling is indescribable.

'She was a beautiful person both inside and out, who loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends.

'Maddie was a kind, caring, thoughtful young woman, who touched the lives of everyone she met.

'Our beautiful beautiful Maddie is gone.

'She has grown her own set of wings and gone to fly with the angels.

'22 years of loving this amazing girl will never be enough, we thought we had a lifetime ahead of us.

'Please hold your loved ones a little tighter and kiss them a little longer*.. you never know when it may be your last opportunity.

'Baby girl*. You were our world and our lives are not complete without you in it. Heaven is so lucky to have you'

John McCall, non-executive chairman of Alumasc, confirmed Mr Green was an employee and confirmed his death but refused to give any comment, saying: 'It is an entirely private matter and I have no intention of making any comment.

'There will be a great deal of grief among the families.'

Police earlier said they were treating Maddie's death as murder. They said no arrests have been made and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with their inquiries.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nicole Main said: 'This case is exceptionally tragic and our team has been working over the past 48 hours to establish the circumstances that have led to the deaths of these two people.

'Maddie Durdant-Hollamby was a young woman with a bright future ahead of her, and we are making sure her family are fully supported as we work to answer their questions about how she came to lose her life.

'Our investigation has found no known background of domestic abuse in this case so far, but we continue to appeal to anyone with any information they believe to be relevant to our inquiries to contact us as soon as possible.'
