Some RNC staff did NOT vote for Trump in the 2020 election and Kushner 'didn't give a f***' about the future of the GOP, new book claims

Dysfunction between the Trump White House and campaign and the Republican National Committee ran so deep that some RNC staff openly talked about not voting for President Donald Trump as the 2020 election neared.

Fox News published excerpts Tuesday of Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender's forthcoming book Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost that exposes the complicated dynamic between Trump's inner circle and the RNC.

Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner had a blunt assessment of the Republican Party's political arm telling Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel that he didn't 'give a f**k' about the future of the GOP in one heated conversation over an online fundraising platform.

Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender's new tome also captures a fight between Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel in which Kushner said he didn't 'give a f**k' about the GOP

The 2020 cycle, however, didn't start out this way.

When the Trump campaign was run under the president's first 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, it worked hand-in-hand with the RNC.

'By 2020, the RNC wasn’t merely an extension of the Trump campaign. (2020 campaign manager) Brad Parscale had effectively turned them into a full partner, and Ronna had become one of the president’s closest advisers,' Bender wrote.

'The RNC was paying for the field staff. They were covering costs for state directors who couldn't get calls returned from campaign headquarters. Even the lease for the campaign headquarters was being paid for by the RNC,' he wrote.

Things changed when Trump pushed Parscale out and replaced him with Bill Stepien, who previously served as the White House's political director.

Stepien didn't have the same kind of relationship with McDaniel as Parscale, Bender wrote, and didn't care for the fact that McDaniel had kept in place a number of senior RNC staffers who Stepien believed didn't serve the president well.

Under Stepien, Bender wrote, 'Ronna was often left on the outside looking in - sometimes literally.'

'In June, she had arrived at the White House for a political meeting, but waited in the lobby for more than an hour before she was brought into the Oval,' the journalist wrote. 'When she walked in, the president asked why she was so late. "They don't want me sitting in the meetings with you," Ronna told him.'

Bender also wrote that Stepien may have had a point about loyalty.

'The president’s handling of COVID and the White House's treatment of Ronna had top staffers inside the RNC openly musing -for the first time in their lives- about not voting for the Republican nominee for president,' the Wall Street Journal reporter revealed.

'Ultimately, some did not cast their Election Day ballot for Trump,' Bender said.

The RNC denied these charges to Fox.

'This is not true. There was no organization or team more dedicated to re-electing President Trump than the RNC,' a spokesperson told the network.

Bender also shared details about a fight between McDaniel and Kushner that took place at the Trump Hotel.

Kushner, according to the reporter, didn't believe the RNC could pull off the 'WinRed' online fundraising platform, which would compete with Democrats' ActBlue.

He expressed to McDaniel that he wanted to handle it himself.

McDaniel 'viewed the WinRed deal as a legacy project that could benefit the party for years to come. Keeping the new company as a nonprofit, she told Jared, would make sure it remained as an arm of the RNC,' Bender wrote.

'Jared wasn’t interested,' Bender said.

'I don't give a f**k about the future of the Republican Party!' he told McDaniel.

McDaniel shot back saying, 'I will be running for chair for a second term, and I will make sure you don't come anywhere near this!'
