Revellers hand in 2,500 beer cans for recycling to claim 10c for each one after an epic New Year's Eve party
Savvy West Aussies have started the New Year with a bit of extra change in their pockets by recycling thousands of beer cans.
The avid recyclers scooped up thousands of the cans left behind by revellers post-New Year's Eve celebrations.
They managed to cash in on their impressive haul of 2,400 beer cans by taking them to a local container deposit drop-off.

Photos posted to social media show the sheer size of the collection, with boxes of the empty cans taking up a large chunk of the deposit site.
Western Australia introduced its Container Deposit Scheme on October 1 last year.
Residents can take beverage containers, such as beer cans and bottles, to designated sites where 10c is provided for each item recycled.
Based on the number of beer cans netted, the ingenious collectors made an easy $240.
Western Australia enjoyed a relatively restriction-free New Year's Eve compared to other places in Australia, such as Sydney and Melbourne, and around the world.
Major celebrations had to comply with government-approved Covid plans and a two-square metre rule was in place for businesses but there were no limits on gatherings.
