Horror as a seven-year-old girl fights for her life in hospital after being mowed down by a car – as cops alcohol test a woman in her 30s

A seven-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being hit by a car.

The young girl was struck on Elm Street, Evans Head in New South Wales about 4.40pm on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where they treated the girl before she was airlifted to Brisbane Children's Hospital.

The girl is fighting for her life as she remains in a serious condition. 

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was not injured in the horrific incident.

She was taken to Lismore Base Hospital where she underwent mandatory testing. 

A crime scene has been established as officers investigate the cause of the crash.
