Two dead and four injured in horrific five-vehicle crash that shut down New Jersey highway for an hour

A horrific crash in the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey has resulted in the death of two people, according to local authorities. 

Sgt. Lawrence Peele of the New Jersey State Police said that the massive five-vehicle crash resulted in one fatality and multiple people getting injured. Four have been reported as being injured.

Sandra Vanderslice, a 59-year-old woman from Philadelphia, and 29-year-old Maxim Viscio, from Jersey City, died in the crash that happened at around 8.23pm on the Garden State Parkway northbound in Clifton at around 8.23pm, NorthJersey.com reports.

Vanderslice had been driving southbound when she lost control of her GMC Suburban, which then overturned and went into the northbound lane.  

All northbound traffic was shit down as a result of the crash Wednesday night.   

'Preliminary information indicates that a multi-vehicle crash occurred in the area of milepost 154.8,' Peelse said. 'All lanes are currently closed.'

Cars were diverted off the road for roughly an hour, according to the state's Department of Transportation.
