Girl, 15, is raped in five hour horro ordeal while walking across Southampton Common as police hunt for suspect

A schoolgirl was raped after being attacked in the early hours of the morning as she walked across a common.

The 15-year-old girl was targeted on Southampton Common between 1am to 5am on December 12. 

Detectives called for anyone who was on or near the common between those hours to come forward.

Police said that officers had been carrying out inquiries in the local area. 

They were also conducting CCTV inquiries and would like to hear from anyone who lives on Marshall Square, Barkshire Court, Hulse Road, Northlands Road and Cemetery Lane in Southampton.

Today, a police spokesman said: "Do you have private CCTV covering any of these locations? Perhaps you were driving through the area at the time. 

'Did you see anything suspicious, do you have any dash cam footage?"

Details of the rape have not yet been released by police who said there was no description of the rapist available.
