'This lady thought I was insane': American woman is blown away after learning how service stations work in Australia
An international traveller has been left shocked after buying petrol from a service station in Australia.
Rachel Balkovec uploaded a video of her encounter at an Australian petrol station to TikTok on Wednesday.
In the video, the 33-year-old was left confused after queuing up to pay for her petrol before using the pump at the bowser.
After standing in line to prepay for her fuel, Ms Balkovec learned that in Australia drivers fill their petrol tanks first before heading into the store to pay.

'I literally stood in the line to pay for my gas first and this lady thought I was insane,' Ms Balkovec said in the video.
'Apparently in Australia they actually trust people to pump their gas first.'
'Helpless in Australia,' Ms Balkovec captioned the post.
'Pumping gas for the first time. Going to be a long season.'
Comments on the post were shocked to learn about the trustworthy payment system used in Australian petrol stations.
'The concept of paying after seems crazy to me,' one comment reads.

'The reason they trust people so much is because they have cameras and if someone was to drive off they have their number plates,' another wrote.
Others questioned how drivers would know how much their petrol would cost before filling up their tank.
'If you have to pay before you start pumping how are you meant to know how much you need to completely fill up the tank?' one post reads.
'What happens if you pay and accidentally go over?' another wrote.
