Senators go wild at election 'fraud' hearing as Republican Ron Johnson calls Democrat Gary Peters a 'liar' - and Donald Trump weighs in to attack fired security expert Chris Krebs AGAIN

A hearing overseen by Trump loyalist Sen. Ron Johnson that aired claims of election 'fraud' devolved into a shouting match where the Wisconsin Republican accused his panel's top Democratic of spreading 'Russian disinformation.'

Johnson teed off on Michigan Democratic Sen. Gary Peters after fired cybersecurity Christopher Krebs observed that there had been three counts of the vote in Georgia, which he said ruled out foreign interference.

'The outcomes were consistent over and over and over again,' said Krebs, who Trump fired after he called the 2020 election the most security in history.

The comment, which came as Trump allies raised unsubstantiated claims about voting machines and the president claims the election was 'rigged,' prompted Johnson to talk about 'Russian disinformation' – which he blamed on Democrats.

He brought up a beef with Peters, who had blasted a Johnson report on Hunter Biden 'corruption' issued just weeks before the election.

'The people peddling it are not on my side of the aisle,' Johnson claimed.

He accused Peters of introducing Russian disinformation 'into our investigation record by leaking to the media and accusing him of 'accepting and disseminating Russian disinformation from Andre Derkach.'

Derkach is a Russia-linked source for Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani's investigation into Hunter Biden. U.S. intelligence has identified Derkach as an intelligence officer.

'I'd never heard of the person until they brought it up,' fumed Johnson, who then referenced the Hunter probe, with fresh confirmation there is a federal investigation of the president-elect's son.

'It's just galling,' he said. He said the 'purveyors' of Russian disinformation were Hillary Clinton's campaign, the Steele dossier, the DNC, and Peters,' said Johnson, on a panel that was once known for bipartisan cooperation.

He accused Peters of 'lies' and 'false allegations.

'I can’t sit by here and listen to this,' he kept on.

He claimed the hearing –which brough up information tossed out of a number of courts in recent weeks - was to 'restore integrity to elections.

'Mr. Chairman, I got to respond to that,' countered Peters, whose voice was somewhat muffled due to him wearing a mask, which Johnson did not do.

'One, I had nothing to do with this report,' said Peters.

'You lied repeatedly in the press that I was spreading Russian disinformation and that was an outright lie and I told you to stop lying and you continued to do it!' Johnson interrupted him.

Mr. Chairman this is not about airing your grievances. I don't know what rabbit hole you're running down,' he said, as Johnson repeatedly slammed his gavel.

'This is terrible what you're doing to this committee,' said Peters, as Johnson shuffled papers on the dais.

'It is what you have done to this committee,' intoned Johnson, who is up for reelection in 2022 in a state Joe Biden carried by 20,000 votes.

'This is outrageous,' said Peters, who was reelected in November, as Johnson recognized Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) next.

Peters had blasted the purpose of the hearing. 'Whether intended or not this hearing is a platform to conspiracy theories and lies. And it’s a destructive exercise that has no place in the United States Senate,' he said.

'We have to stop this undermining confidence in democracy,' implored Krebs.

The hearing action caught the attention of one powerful viewer: President Trump, who tweeted about the hearing during the morning, even though he had a cabinet meeting on his schedule.

He tweeted that the hearings showed the results of the election were 'fraudulent' while praising Johson.

'Senate Hearings going on LIVE @OANN, as to the Fraudulent 2020 Election that just took place. @SenRonJohnson doing an excellent job. Nevada must be flipped based on testimony!' Trump said.

Twitter immediately flagged the claim as 'disputed,' a day after the Electoral College made Joe Biden's win official.

He also took a shot at Krebs. 'Chris Krebs was totally excoriated and proven wrong at the Senate Hearing on the Fraudulent 2020 Election. Massive FRAUD took place with machines, people voting from out of state, illegals, dead people, no signatures—and so much more!'

Twitter also flagged that tweet. Trump and his allies lost dozens of cases challenging th elections in courts, and the Supreme Court declined to take up a suit by the Texas attorney general.

The hearing was titled 'Examining Irregularities in the 2020 Election,' a topic that itself fits in with Trump's claims of fraud and a 'rigged election.'
