'Drunk' woman is caught driving without her front WHEEL after a concerned motorist saw sparks flying out of the car and followed her

A woman has been charged with drink driving after she was allegedly caught driving on a highway without her front wheel.

Another motorist noticed the car sending sparks and debris flying across the South Western Highway in Byford, southeast of Perth, about 2.40am on November 8 and followed the vehicle.

Pictures of the 31-year-old's Holden Captiva wagon show the front wheel missing with the metal worn down to the brake caliper.

When the car stopped after allegedly driving erratically for about 5km, the witness got out of their car and grabbed the woman's keys. 

Police were then called and the woman underwent a breath test which allegedly returned a 0.08 blood alcohol level.

The woman was also charged with reckless driving, given a driving disqualification notice, and her car was seized by police. 

The woman is scheduled to front Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday.
