Howard Stern signs five-year deal with SiriusXM to continue hosting and producing his popular satellite radio show
Howard Stern has reached a five-year deal with SiriusXM to continue producing and hosting his popular satellite radio show with the company through the end of 2025.
The 66-year-old announced the news on Tuesday's broadcast, telling his listeners: 'Now that I can work from home, I simply don't have an excuse to quit.'
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed however Stern had already been making $90million a year, according to Forbes.
The deal will also give SiriusXM exclusive rights to Stern's audio and video library through 2032.
Howard Stern on Tuesday announced he has signed a five-year deal with Sirius XM to continue hosting and producing his popular namesake show with the satellite radio company
Sirius shares were up 1.4 per cent in premarket trading.
'I am honored to be a part of the greatest content provider in media today. SiriusXM, I love you and I'm thrilled to continue our journey together,' Stern added.
'If you haven't listened to this wonderful service filled with music, talk, sports and just about anything you could want, please check it out.'
Stern has two separate channels on SiriusXM, and his empire has expanded to include video content.
Once best known as a 'shock jock' due to the controversial nature of his show, Stern has developed into one of the sharpest interviewers in the business.
On Tuesday the host talked about how going to satellite radio liberated him from his 'toxic relationship' with more traditional radio companies.
'No matter how well I treated the medium, no matter how successful I made them, they abused me. Going to SiriusXM liberated me,' he said.
'Despite the naysayers and the ridicule, we have persevered, and are thriving. I've been proven right about satellite radio over and over again. With this contract renewal, I can't wait to see what else I'll be right about.'

Sirius had 600,000 subscribers in 2004 when Stern announced he was leaving traditional radio to join the satellite radio company.
He started in 2006 after signing a five-year, $500million deal.
The company, which re-branded as Sirius XM following a merger between Sirius and XM Satellite radio in 2008, has nearly 35 million subscribers now, and Stern is clearly the marquee talent.
Stern is 66; nothing was said about the deal possibly being his last with the company.
CEO Jim Meyer celebrated the news in a statement, saying 'we couldn't be happier to have Howard, the leading host in all of radio and audio, continue to make SiriusXM the home for his show.'
'Howard's home has been SiriusXM and it will remain that way, but we've expanded SiriusXM in recent years too, and we are excited about finding the right ways that select content from Howard can find audiences on additional platforms,' Meyer said.
'May I add, I consider Howard a close friend and look forward to listening to him for years to come.'
