Fresh twist in the search for missing mother-of-four as police scour bushland for a body after her disappearance became a murder investigation

Police have began searching bushland as they investigate the murder of a missing mother-of-four. 

The Missing Persons Squad detectives, with the assistance of police from the Search and Rescue Squad Ms Parfitt's body is yet to be located but police believe it is only a matter of time before they find her. 

Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper of the Missing Persons Squad said officers believe they are closing in on those responsible for Ms Parfitt's death.

'We have returned to the area a number of times as part of this investigation and will continue to return each time we receive new information,' he said.

'There are definitely people in the Ballarat community who know what happened to Kobie.

Police have been able to confirm Kobie was last seen alive in April at a property on Hickman Street, 115km northwest of Melbourne.

'We know she was last seen alive at a property in Hickman Street on 28 April however we are still yet to locate her body.

'Again, we're asking anyone with information regarding Kobie's disappearance or who knows who is responsible for her death, to speak to police.'

An eight month search for a missing mother-of-four recently become a homicide investigation after police received information indicating she was murdered.

Detectives stepped up their investigation into the suspicious disappearance of Victorian woman Kobie Parfitt, with murder cops now being drafted in.  

Neither her phone or bank accounts have been accessed since.

Ms Parfitt, who is also a grandmother-of three, had become estranged from her family.

She was living in central Ballarat and had previously worked in disability support and aged care.

Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper from the Missing Persons Squad said they are aware there are more people out there with information about what happened to Kobie and who was responsible for her death. 

'While we feel we are close to getting to the bottom of what happened to Kobie, we are once again urging anyone who knows anything to come forward to police.'

Kobie is 168 cm tall with a slim to medium build with long brown hair.
