Horror hammer attack as a man suffers a fractured skull after being brutally bashed in his own home by robbers armed with meat cleavers - and the attackers are still on the run
A western Sydney man has undergone surgery for a fractured skull after he was struck with a hammer during a terrifying home invasion.
He was sitting in the lounge room of the Parramatta home on Rosehill Street with two other men at around 5pm on Wednesday when two intruders armed with a hammer and a meat cleaver entered through the unlocked back door.
The male intruders confronted and demanded money from the 52-year-old man before he was struck across the back of the head with the hammer.

A second man, aged 19, was also hit in the arm with the hammer.
The intruders ransacked the house before fleeing with mobile phones.
They were last seen running towards Alma Street where they got into a silver Holden Commodore.
The older man was rushed to Westmead Hospital where he underwent surgery for a fractured skull.

Inquiries are continuing with a hunt underway to track down the armed intruders.
The first man is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his early 20s, medium build, wearing a grey hooded jumper and long black pants.
The second is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his early 30s and slim build.
He was also wearing a grey hooded jumper and long black pants.
