A mother who allegedly stabbed her private school-educated son during a heated argument at their $3.1million home in a wealthy Sydney suburb was heard screaming 'I love you' before she was led away by police in handcuffs.
Hugo Ball, 22, was found with multiple stab wounds after an alleged dispute with his mother Samantha Palmer, 55, at their Bellevue Hill home in Sydney's east.
The Scots College graduate was treated at the scene before being carried out of the home in a stretcher and taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition.
He was in a stable condition late on Saturday.
His mother's gut-wrenching screams rang out throughout the wealthy suburb as emergency services flooded the eastern suburbs home.

'Darling!' she was overheard sobbing as police restrained her.
'I love you!'
She was arrested at the property and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Neighbour Max Myer said he had never heard anything like it in the usually quiet suburb.
'I heard a woman's voice shouting, first of all quietly then increasingly loudly,' Mr Myer told Nine News.
'I've lived here for about three years and I haven't experienced anything like that.'
New South Wales Ambulance Inspector Giles Buchanan said the boy was in bad shape when they found him, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 22-year-old was was treated at the scene before being carried out in a stretcher to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition
Ms Palmer apologised to police and thanked them as they helped her into the back of the paddy wagon
'He received a stab wound to the left arm, right shoulder and also in his back,' he said.
'Initially he had very low blood pressure, indicating he'd got a significant amount of bleeding going on and also the locations of the wounds can be fatal.'
Ms Palmer is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday after being refused bail.
