A mother of four who married her high school sweetheart was fatally gunned down while working at a Maryland convenience store on Thursday, local authorities shared.
Lynn Marie Maher, a 49-year-old White Plains native, was shot just before 12.50am at the 7-Eleven located on the 3300 block of Middletown Road in Waldorf.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office shared in a press release that deputies responded to the scene after getting reports of the shooting.
An investigation revealed that a lone male suspect walked into the store and produced a gun, demanding that the mother give him money.
After getting his hands on the money, the suspect shot the woman and fled the scene. Maher died at the scene.

Travis Maher, the woman's husband, took to Facebook just hours after the shooting to share news of his wife's passing.
'Anyone that knew Lynn knew she loved life, teaching Tae Kwon Do, and being there for her family and friends,' he said in the post.
'My brother's grieving,' Maher's brother-in-law said, NBC Washington reports. 'There's so much pain there. It's a senseless, senseless tragic killing.'
The couple had been high school sweethearts at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. After going their separate ways, the two rekindled their love and married. They moved from Iowa to Maryland, 10 years ago.

Lynn Maher and her husband, Travis, were high school sweethearts at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, who went their separate ways and later reconnected, their family member said. They rekindled their love in Iowa, married and moved back to Maryland about 10 years ago.
7-Eleven released a statement offering their condolences and support to local law enforcement in the investigation, WJLA reports.
'Our hearts are with the victim's family. We are working with the local Franchisee to gather information and provide local law enforcement with any information helpful to their investigation. The store is currently closed while police complete their investigation.'
