Horrific moment Ford Falcon swerves TOWARDS a pedestrian crossing the road - sending him flying into the air

A 32-year-old man has been charged over a bizarre 'traffic crash' that left a pedestrian with deep cuts to his face and a severe shoulder injury.

Distressing CCTV footage shows a vehicle plough into a man standing in the centre of a road in the Perth suburb of Dianella about 9pm on 27 August.

The two men had allegedly been seen arguing moments before.

In the video, the driver can been seen waiting for about 40 seconds for the pedestrian to cross the road before he takes off.

'It will be alleged the man was driving a Ford Falcon sedan along Walter Road West when he became involved in a verbal altercation with a male pedestrian walking along the same road,' Western Australia Police said.

'As the pedestrian crossed Walter Road West near Birkett Street the man swerved the Ford Falcon to strike the pedestrian.'

'The driver drove away before parking on Shaftesbury Avenue and returning to the victim.'

The 48-year-old pedestrian was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital to be treated for a shoulder injury and facial lacerations.

'I was just having dinner with my family and I heard a big bang and when I came out I saw a guy lying on the road,' local resident Bobby Wong told 9News.

'He couldn't say anything and his face was very bloody.'

The driver from Noranda, in the north of Perth, has been charged with Acts or Omissions, with Intent to Harm, cause Bodily Harm.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on September 14.
