Guy and Chris Sebastian respond to claims The Voice was 'rigged' - and reveal the 'above board' way they ensured there was no drama on set

Some viewers slammed this year's season of The Voice as 'unfair' and 'rigged' when coach Guy Sebastian's brother Chris was crowned the winner.

And in a joint interview for The Sunday Telegraph's Stellar magazine, the siblings addressed the backlash, with Guy saying the haters are often just a small minority.

Guy also revealed to the publication the 'above board' way he ensured there was no drama on set, with Chris having been approached to star on the show the year prior.

When asked his thoughts on claims the show was 'rigged' with Chris' 'unfair advantage', the winner, 32, said that it's a 'disservice' to the fans that supported him.

Guy, 38, also chimed in, revealing how he once explained to Chris that 'you're never going to please everyone'.

'These tiny amounts of people who just hate everything and it doesn't matter about the truth, they will label you,' he said.

Guy also revealed how he sat down and discussed the idea of Chris competing on the show, with Chris having been approached by producers to star the previous year.

Chris ended up saying no to competing on the 2019 season, as Guy thought it would be 'weird' being his first year as a coach on the show.

'I made it clear with the producers from the outset that I didn't want any kind of drama or anything attached to it,' Guy said.

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time Chris has addressed The Voice controversy.

Appearing on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in July, he said of the backlash: 'I knew it was coming but I weighed up the risks.'

'I was like, "Look, this isn't even about me anymore". I've got a family to provide for. I've been wanting to do this my whole life.

'At the end of the day, there are people that voted for me and I'm going to sing for them and if the others don't want to listen, that's all good.'
