Withdrawal: Tom Daley pulled out of the FINA World series event in Mexico

Great Britain's Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley has pulled out of his scheduled appearance at the FINA World Series event in Guadalajara.

Daley was due to make his comeback from an elbow injury in the 10-metre platform event in Mexico but withdrew on the day of the competition.

A statement on the official website of British Swimming read: 'Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley has been forced to pull out of the FINA/Midea Diving World Series because of his ongoing elbow injury.

'Daley could not compete at the Grand Prix in Fort Lauderdale due to the injury and will continue resting the elbow in order to prevent further damage.

'The Plymouth-based diver injured his elbow in training and the British Swimming medical team are continuing to support him in his recovery.'

Fellow Briton Tonia Couch reached the final of the equivalent women's event, scoring 321.00 across her five qualifying dives.
