Neighbours star who can't get into Queensland to see her cancer-stricken mum asks for an NRL player to date her so she can cross the border with him

Neighbours star Charlotte Chimes has called out the Queensland government for allowing NRL stars through its strict border lockdown, but not residents desperate to see sick family members.

The 27-year-old actress posted a video to her Instagram on Friday satirically asking if there were any single NRL stars who would date her so she can cross the Queensland border to care for her mother who is battling breast cancer.

Although Ms Chimes is a fully vaccinated Queensland resident, she is currently not allowed into the state to help look after mum, Katrina.

Tagging the Queensland Premier in the caption she asks: '@annastaciamp why won’t you let me come home to QLD to take care of my mother?'

The video begins with Charlotte asking Siri: 'Who are all the single NRL players in my area?'

She then says she's single and looking for a NRL player to date and hotel quarantine with in Queensland before listing 'a few things you might want to know about me'.

She hilariously runs through her admirable qualities including being an actress, families and kids love her, she'll 'get on board' if the NRL star loves fishing, she'll cook them breakfast and that she is 'freshly vaxxed and freshly waxed'.

'So for all you single NRL players out there, I mean, slide into my DMs (direct messages). Let's make this happen,' she says.

'Because even though I'm a Queensland resident and my mother is going through cancer treatment right now, I can't get an exemption,' she finishes.

Mr Chimes told Daily Mail Australia she has been applying for an exemption to get through the border from Melbourne for more than a week.

She has been applying through the Queensland Health portal and the border pass system, with proof of her residency, letters from her mother's doctors outlining her condition and the fact she needs care, and proof she is fully vaccinated.

Ms Chimes stated that she isn't just hopping the border to get home, and she is more than happy to quarantine if it means she is able to care for her sick mother.

She has applied for a border pass three times and has been declined each time.

Ms Chimes said she doesn't understand why sports players and their wives are being allowed through the borders but people providing care to their family members are not.

She created the satirical video not only to bring awareness to her struggle, but to let people know the difficult circumstances that come with simply trying to see family during this time.

She stated that 'comedy is sometimes the best way to get through to people' and hoped that her video would allow people to connect over situations such as hers.

Ms Chimes stated that even though she made the video in jest, if a NRL player slid into her DMs and wanted to date her, she would go for it if it meant she was able to see her mother.

She also commented that 'in the best case scenario' her application would be approved soon so she is able to go and care for her beloved mother.

Viewers of her video have sympathised with Ms Chimes, commenting their condolences and similar stories.

'So sorry to hear you can’t get home to be with your mum. Hope she is ok,' wrote one.

'Such a sad state of affairs our country can't even have compassionate grounds to travel anymore. WA won't let anyone in from NSW except politicians and VIC is about to be locked out like them too! Hope you get a chance to see your Mum during a filming break soon,' commented another.
