A fake priest was filmed breaking one of the 10 commandments by using a Bible to cover up a tourist's cellphone at a Mexican beach resort before stealing it.
The elderly suspect can be seen in the shocking video footage approaching the restaurant table in the resort town of Playa Del Carmen, then engaging the woman and her son in a conversation.
He placed his Bible on top of the woman’s cellphone and subsequently picked up the holy book while holding on to the mobile device all at once.

Moments later, the woman’s son called for their waiter to bring over their bill.
The surveillance video camera subsequently shows her searching her handbag to check if her cellphone was inside after noticing it was no longer on top of the table and then motioning to her son that her cellphone was missing.
The bogus priest is spotted standing near a pole next to a table where his accomplice was sitting, and was filmed sliding the phone across the table to get it out of his hands in case he was confronted by his victims.

That accomplice quickly lifted the device and walked out the eatery.
The son eventually approached a restaurant manager to complain that his mother’s phone was missing.
The fake priest, knowing he was not going to get caught with the phone, complied when the manager asked if he could check his bag.
After revising his belongings, the manager cleared him and allowed him to leave.
Online news portal Noticias El Rumbo del Caribe reported that the suspect had been known for using the same scheme to rob other unsuspecting restaurant customers throughout the state of Quintana Roo.
Both suspect remain on-the-run.
