Scotland football fans are preparing for battle tomorrow night when England take on Italy in the Euro 2020 final by picturing manager Roberto Mancini as William Wallace.

Fans north of the border and in Wales who 'can't take another 55 years of them banging on about this' are buying Italian shirts and even adopting the country's surnames.

The front page of the pro-Scottish independence newspaper The National featured Italian coach Mancini photoshopped as Wallace in the 1995 epic Braveheart.

And Wales fans have joined in the fun, taking to social media to post pictures of the Italian flag with the Welsh dragon in its centre.

England will take on Italy in Wembley at 8pm tomorrow night in the national team's first major final since its 1966 World Cup victory.

Scotland crashed out of the competition in the group stages but were the only team to have stopped England from winning in the Euros so far, holding them to a 0-0 draw at Wembley on June 18.

Scottish fans took to the streets of London to support the team and at the time and the celebrations went long into the night after the result.

Meanwhile, Wales were unable to replicate their Euro 2016 success of reaching the semifinals — despite defying expectations by reaching the last 16, where they were knocked out by Denmark 4-0.

Now fans of the two nations' last hope that England aren't victorious rests in an Italian team who have not lost in 33 games — and many on social media fancy their chances.

Another England supporter said: 'So very sad to see our neighbours hate us so much that they can't rejoice in England enjoying a good moment of cheer.'

But Mike Callaghan wrote: 'Some of the folk commenting on this need to chill out. As Scotland fans are we supposed to put our rivalry aside and support England? 

'No chance. It's not Wimbledon. Or F1. It's football. Nobody is saying they hate English folk. Scottish football fans don't support England. End of.'

And another said: 'Not a big fan of the National, but fair play this is class.'
