Police have arrested three people after a wild three-hour car chase through Sydney’s west that followed two alleged carjackings at knifepoint.
Three men were taken into custody after smashing into another vehicle at the intersection of the Cumberland highway and the M4 in Guildford at about 4.10pm on July 10.
The thieves allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla on Montrose Road at Abbotsford at about 12.45pm, forcing a woman out of her vehicle after threatening her with a machete.

Police initiated a pursuit but stopped when it became too dangerous.
About 15 minutes later officers were called after young family had their black BMW SUV carjacked at Palmer Street in Guildford West as the group of men again threatened them with a machete.
The men allegedly stole two cars before initiating the three-hour chase, which stretched from Liverpool all the way to the Blue Mountains
The SUV travelled through western Sydney, both directions of the M4, and in Liverpool as police pursued before the vehicle crashed
The SUV was followed by a police helicopter for more than three hours as it travelled west to the Blue Mountains and then back through Fairfield, Liverpool and Homebush.
The SUV crashed into a man and his two children before the trio were apprehended by swarms of police.
The children, aged five months and and two and a half years, and their father were uninjured.

The father of the children told 9News:
'I just felt this collision, and I ran out to make my kids the priority and to make sure they were okay, but I don't really know what happened'.
After the minor collision with the family, an undercover police car rammed the SUV to bring the chase to an end.
Police are expecting charges to be laid.
