'You enter catastrophe mode': Ranvir Singh admits she struggles with 'mum guilt' after her son, 8, FaceTimed her live on air during Good Morning Britain

Ranvir Singh has admitted she struggles with mum guilt after her son FaceTimed her live on air on Wednesday's edition of Good Morning Britain.

The TV presenter, 43, was interrupted by her son Tushaan, eight, partway through the show and made sure to answer it after she was concerned 'something terrible' happened.

And then appearing on Lorraine afterwards, Ranvir reflected on the incident and said she often dealt with guilt over not being 'perfect', though she reassured viewers that he'd only called her to ask about his iPad.

On GMB, she laughed as she told Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: 'My son is FaceTiming me while I'm on air! Sorry, I'm just going to have to answer my son now just to see if everything is okay at home.'

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly afterwards, Ranvir said: 'Everything was fine, do you know what it was? When your child rings you and you're at work, you just think something terrible has happened and you enter catastrophe mode.

'It turns out it was an urgent enquiry about his iPad. This is what happens when you're at work and your kids are at home, you know that guilt about how you're not perfect and your life isn't perfect.

'Nobody's life is perfect, don't believe what you see on Instagram, we're all just struggling in our own small way.'

Ranvir shares her son with ex-husband Ranjeet Dehal, she confirmed their split in September 2020 prior to making her Strictly Come Dancing debut.

She also spoke about how much she missed dancing since her stint on the competition show, saying she does 'a little bit around my kitchen'.

The presenter went on: 'I'd love to do ballroom again, I'd be sad not to have that feeling again. It would be so nice for us to have some lessons together.'

When Lorraine claimed they'd just laugh if they went together for a lesson, Ranvir added, 'No I recommend this, it's the most lovely feeling, it's like you're floating, you're being led.'

And, after Lorraine praised her performances on the show, Ranvir gushed: 'I didn't know I could do it, that's what I've learned in this last year, might as well have a go!'

In December last year, Ranvir discussed her home life and said her focus is currently on her son and new dog Shmizzels.

She told Prima magazine: 'Will there ever be any room for another person with my son and I? We have a dog now, too!

'We got him in lockdown; he’s a little cockapoo called Shmizzels. He’s so cute and needy, the poor little thing. I love him and I can’t imagine life without him now.'

Ranvir also discussed how her work is hugely important to her and with being a single mother, she has little room in her life for much else.

Speaking of her successful broadcasting career, she said: 'I've achieved loads and it's been amazing, but it all takes it out of you. It leaves very little room for anything else, especially when you're a single mum.'
