Salma Hayek revealed that she was up for portraying Trinity in The Matrix franchise, but the physical demands of the role were too much for her.
The 54-year-old actress spoke about competing for the role that eventually went to Carrie-Anne Moss, 53, on Red Table Talk.
She was asked how she knew Jada Pinkett Smith, 49, and Salma said they first met while among the final four actresses auditioning for the role.

'We had jumped through many hurdles and screen testing and many auditions, and they brought these stunt coordinators from Asia and it was the physical test,' Salma said in a preview clip of Wednesday's episode.
'Now, I'm flexible, I'm agile - but I'm lazy. I never really went to the gym,' she added during her remote appearance.
'They said to me, ''You have to run!'' I go, ''To where?!' ''Around, you have to run around'',' Salma recalled being told.
'I couldn't even go around the room once, I was like ,' she added.

Salma then told Jada's daughter Willow, 20, and her mother Adrienne, 67, how impressed she was by their co-host.
'In comes Jada. Mean, lean, sexy machine,' Salma said as Willow and Adrienne laughed.
'Oh my god, she was so good! It was so embarrassing. She was so fit, she was so focused, she was so disciplined, she was so capable, she was so gracious,' Salma added.

'And I just looked at this woman and I thought to myself, 'That's who I wanna be when I grow up,'',' Salma concluded.
Salma and Jada both lost out to Carrie-Anne who was cast as Trinity.
'I always tell Carrie-Anne that she was perfect for that one,' Jada said.

Jada later was written into the sequels as the character Niobe.
The Matrix was released in 1999 and earned $465 million worldwide.
It was followed by two sequels in 2003 and a fourth film is scheduled for release on December 22, 2021.
