Welsh fans packed out pubs in Cardiff after being banned from travelling to Amsterdam to watch their country's Euro 2020 last-16 clash against Denmark.

Fans were unable to attend the game at the Johan Cruyff Arena due to coronavirus restrictions imposed by the Netherlands - the host country of the match.

Scores of supporters dressed up in red and took to the streets of Cardiff to cheer on Gareth Bale's men but they crashed out of the competition after Denmark scored four goals.

Denmark's forward Kasper Dolberg put his country 1-0 up against Wales after just 26 minutes, with the score remaining the same by half time and Denmark unlucky to not be leading by more.

Denmark soon got their reward for their impressive performance, with Dolberg scoring again on 48 minutes - just three minutes after the restart - with Welsh hopes of reaching the quarter finals ebbing away.

Joakim Maehle of Denmark scored a third goal on the 88th minute before Martin Braithwaite put the final nail in Wales' coffin when he scored his country's fourth goal in the 94th minute, moments before the final whistle.

But the Welsh fan's nerves were rattled when Denmark's forward Kasper Dolberg put his country 1-0 up against Wales after just 26 minutes

Danish fans were able to travel to the country if they entered and left Holland within 12 hours.

The 12-hour time cap means they can avoid having to quarantine on their arrival.

Permission was granted because both Denmark and the Netherlands are in the EU Schengen travel area - but Wales is not.

Both Wales and Denmark aren't on Holland's safe country list.

Erik Brogger, director of Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Citizen Service, told a press conference on Tuesday: 'You can get to football, but you have to plan quite carefully if you do not want to risk being quarantined in a hotel room.

'It should be technically possible, but you have to plan it pretty carefully.

'For most people, it will probably be better to stay at home. We encourage you to watch the match at home.'

Danish authorities said that fans were allowed to attend if fans present a negative PCR test that is a maximum of 72 hours old.

They must subsequently isolate for ten days when they return to Denmark, but are able to test themselves out of it on the fifth day.
