Chinese teacher repeatedly slaps a student's face in front of his classmate to punish him for arriving late
A teacher in China is under police investigation after she was caught on camera repeatedly slapping a student in front of his classmates.
In a disturbing clip, the educator can be seen grabbing the boy's hair while savagely smacking his face, watched by a full room of pupils at a middle school in western China's Xinjiang.
The woman, known by her surname Ma, was punishing the 15-year-old teenager after he had arrived in class late, said local police.

The horrifying incident took place at an unidentified middle school in Payzawat County of Xinjiang's Kashgar Prefecture, western China, on December 21, a police statement said
The incident came to light after the footage was shared by Na Di, a model and actress with nearly 100,000 followers on China's Twitter-like Weibo, according to reports. The original clip appears to have been deleted.
It took place at an unidentified middle school in Payzawat County of Xinjiang's Kashgar Prefecture on December 21, a police statement said.
The student, known by his surname Ya, is said to have arrived in class late and received the punishment while having an argument with Ms Ma.
In a video obtained by Xi'an Business, a state-affiliated newspaper, Ya can be seen standing at the front of the room, next to a queue of his classmates.

The teacher grips the teenager's hair with one hand while savagely slapping his face with the other as they were watched by the entire class. She then kicks the boy on his leg several times.
The horrifying scene quickly attracted attention online after being shared by netizens and celebrities, reportedly including Nigermaidi Zechman, a prominent state TV anchor originally from Xinjiang.
'Every slap hit heart, painful,' the Uighur presenter allegedly wrote, according to a screenshot of his post which had been deleted.
Another viewer condemned: 'She is not a teacher! What an animal!'
After the video became viral, the local police issued a statement today, adding that they had received a report from the school following the incident.
The student suffered injuries on his right ear after being taken to the hospital for examination, the authorities said.
The officers are said to have conducted 'relevant measures against Ms Ma in accordance with the law', according to the notice, without specifying if she had been detained.
An investigation of the case continued, the officials said.
