Fees for Australia's most expensive private schools have blown out to almost $500,000 despite the financial disaster of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Two schools in NSW and Victoria are now charging more than $40,000 a year for Year 12 tuition - SCEGGS Darlinghurst in Sydney and Melbourne's Geelong Grammar.

Only 20 per cent of NSW private schools have frozen their fees, according to recent analysis by education payment provider Edstart.
Excluding extra costs like uniform and textbooks, the average parent enrolling their child in a private school in NSW is expected to fork out $443,000 between when they enter kindergarten and reach the end of Year 12.
All the schools charging more than $30,000 a year are in Australia's two most populous states.
Edstart said only one in 10 schools in Australia have cut fees despite even the richest families feeling the pinch of the Covid-19 crisis.
Queensland's heftiest fees are charged by Brisbane Grammar School - where parents will have to pay $29,450 in 2021.
In Western Australia, Presbyterian Ladies' College topped the state leaderboard charging $28,992.

Principals defended the ever-increasing cost as necessary because of the higher costs associated with paying their staff.
'There are parents who work three jobs to keep their children at one of those schools… schools are very aware of the pressures on parents,' Association of Independent Schools NSW chief executive Dr Geoff Newcombe told The Daily Telegraph.
'There is a direct relationship between decisions schools have made between fees and salary increases.'
