Jetstar takes a subtle swipe at 'entitled' Byron Bay model who held up an already-delayed flight by leaving the airport to feast on oysters before slamming the airline on Instagram

Jetstar has hit back at a glamorous influencer who left passengers waiting on a plane while she finished her oyster dinner.

Ruby Tuesday Matthews, 27, was flying from Byron Bay to Sydney on Thursday at 5pm, but a technical issue caused the flight to be delayed.

While the budget airline asked travellers to stay in the airport while waiting for an engineer, the model and a friend went to a cafe and feasted.

As they were not in the airport, they did not hear that the plane was ready to go and delayed the flight for a further 30 minutes.

The single mother-of-two slammed the airline for allowing other passengers to 'bully' her for the delay.

But Jetstar broke its silence on Tuesday and defended its response to the situation in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.

'We apologise to customers for the delay to the service and thank them for their patience as our team worked to get the flight away as quickly as possible.'

'We kept customers informed during this time, asking them not to leave the airport should the flight be able to get away ahead of the revised time.'

Jetstar also fired a shot at the influencer on its Instagram page with a post featuring travel blogger Sarah Davidson holding an oyster with a caption about flying to Tasmania.

Ms Matthews claimed she did not hear the directive to stay inside the terminal and received a call from the airline advising her the flight was ready to leave.

The technical issues were fixed faster than expected and, had the model forfeited her seafood feast, the flight would have left at 6.30.

In videos exclusively taken by Daily Mail Australia on last Thursday's flight, frustrated passengers could be heard heckling the outspoken model as she boarded the aircraft.

Footage showed passengers shouting 'how were the oysters' and 'what a day to be pretty' as she entered the aircraft.

When the plane touched down in Sydney, Matthews wasted no time in calling out Jetstar on her Instagram page, slamming the airline for their handling of the incident.

She blamed Jetstar for what had happened and told the other passengers to 'grow up'.

'I had a pretty traumatic flight experience, thanks Jetstar, you never cease to amaze me,' she began.

'I'm sorry but it really was not my fault... we were told it was going to be taking off at 7.45pm, I had not eaten since my smoothie that morning because I had been in back-to-back meetings.

'I was like ''f**k this, I'm going to get food out of the airport, it's two hours until our flight takes off, I'm going to go''.

'I walked out, I did not hear the second announcement that apparently said ''do not leave the airport''.

'I didn't hear that, I swear to god, I wouldn't have left the airport, I'm not a d***head, I do have respect for everyone else.'

She claimed she was met with 'very personal comments' when she got on the plane.

'I was basically bullied by about seven to 10 to 14 people at different times, then they made comments about my children. No Jetstar staff stopped this at any time. I copped it hard for about 15 minutes.

'I was scared for myself because number one, I was by myself...number two, no one else who was later than me copped any abuse, it was just me alone.'

The outspoken model lashed out at 's**tstar' again on Sunday and claimed staff at Sydney Airport demanded they go through her phone before boarding a flight back to Byron Bay.

'So I just went up to the Jetstar desk to complain about what had happened last and the treatment,' she told her 210,000 followers.

'I was just met outside by the manager and airline staff who wanted to go through my phone to make sure that I just didn't film them inside.

'Apparently you're not allowed to film Jetstar staff. Which is f***king kind of crazy when everyone on that plane filmed Jetstar staff

'Are you f***king off your heads Jetstar?'
