EXCLUSIVE: 'They'll sort it out... eventually.' Angelina Jolie's British godmother Jacqueline Bisset declares actress and Brad Pitt will work out their bitter custody issues because they love their six children

Angelina Jolie's British godmother says the Oscar winner and ex Brad Pitt will 'sort it out eventually' - despite the former Hollywood power couple's custody battle reaching fever pitch.

Actress Jacqueline Bisset, who was close friends with Angelina's late mother Marcheline Betrand, believes that whatever happens between the pair in court they will always put their six children together first.

Court documents filed last week show the couple are very far from reaching an agreement on how much time they each get with Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12.

But despite the custody battle heating up, Jacqueline, from Surrey, England, says she has no doubt that an agreement will be reached.

Speaking from her home in Beverly Hills last Friday, Jacqueline, 76, exclusively told DailyMai.com: 'Angelina and Brad will sort it out eventually. They both love the children so they will sort it out.'

Papers filed last Friday reveal that Angelina's battle to remove the private judge overseeing the case continues.

Brad, 56, opposed that move, with his lawyers describing it as a 'thinly-veiled attempt by Jolie to delay the adjudication of long-pending custody issues'.

It has also emerged that Angelina, 45, has asked for two experts to be removed from the case, including the forensic psychologist appointed by the court to carry out child evaluations.

Jacqueline starred in classic movies such as Airport and The Detective in the 1960s and 1970s before winning a Golden Globe for her role in BBC miniseries Dancing on the Edge in 2013.

Last year she was spotted having dinner with Jolie at the world-famous Brasserie Lipp in Paris.

A source told People magazine: 'They're very close, and Jacqueline is someone Angelina has admired for a long time.'

Hearings in Brad and Angelina's custody trial were due to begin in private on Monday and are expected to last until October 23.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood superstar Pitt is reportedly seeking 50/50 joint physical and legal custody of their underage children. Maddox is now an adult and therefore is free to go with either parent.

A source told Us Weekly last month that Jolie does not agree with Brad's proposed terms and the couple are no longer taking part in family therapy.

The insider reportedly said: ' will only agree to talk about an agreement if the home base for the children isn't Los Angeles.

'The younger kids are in school in Los Angeles, which Angelina has always been opposed to.

'They are very smart and are eager to attend school in person amid the COVID-19 .'

The pair had previously reached a custody agreement in November 2018, which appeared to prevent the need for a trial.

Earlier this year they appeared to be getting along better and Pitt was even spotted leaving Jolie's gated community in Los Feliz on his BMW motorbike in June.

It was the first time that he had been spotted at her home since she filed for divorce in 2016 following an alleged altercation with their eldest son Maddox.
