UNC Chapel Hill has been given the 'all clear' after reports of an armed and dangerous person on the university's campus.
It's unclear if any shots were fired but students and staff were told to stay indoors.
The university tweeted at 11.43am on Friday: 'Alert Carolina! Emergency: Armed, dangerous person on or near campus. Go inside now; avoid windows.'
The school said the person was near the Ambulatory Care Center, the campus healthcare center.

Less than an hour later, the school tweeted again: 'All clear! All clear! Resume normal activities.'
The school has around 29,000 students currently enrolled.
'It's unclear how many are on campus and how many are remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At least some parts of campus remain open but are operating on limited hours, according to the school's website.
It decided to eliminate fall break, which was earlier this month, to continue classes and is currently open until Thanksgiving.
