A fisherman who stopped to film dozens of sharks mauling a dead whale watched on in shock as a great white took a bite out of his boat's propeller.
Dean Butler was fishing off the coast of Forster, on the NSW mid-north coast, on Sunday afternoon when he spotted the floating whale carcass.
'I a really big great white and a really big tiger shark – like 400kg a piece, easy,' Mr Butler told 9News.

The seasoned fisherman recorded bone-chilling footage of the three-metre long sharks taking chunks off the whale.
They then started circling Mr Butler's boat, with one of the sharks launching towards the back and taking a chunk off the propeller.
'The only two bites I got all day were of those sharks eating my boat,' Mr Butler joked.
'I'm glad I found them in the daylight because you could easily hit that in the dark. To come out of your boat and be surrounded by those guys in the dark would be scary.
'I wasn't concerned, I was just happy to witness it. It was pretty cool.'
