Beaming Melanie Sykes, 50, displays her off-duty style while indulging in a spot of Olympic trap shooting

She recently hit out at Keith Lemon when she  branded men 'basic and limited' during a rant about her love life.

And Melanie Sykes brushed her woes to one side as she concentrated on a spot of clay pigeon shooting, also known as Olympic trap shooting, on Friday. 

The presenter, who recently turned 50, was dressed for the occasion as she arrived to North London's A1 Shooting Ground in her darkwash skinny jeans and an oversized pink flannel shirt.

The statuesque beauty complemented her training look with a pair of knee-high boots, a black long-sleeved top and baseball cap.

Ready for her lesson, she slipped on a sleeveless pink shooting vest as she propped  the shot-gun towards her eyeline and then pulled the trigger while her instructor Claudio Capaldo watched on.

She captioned her first shot: 'Thank you Claudio Capaldo for my refresher coaching for Olympic trap. Just brilliant and great fun.'

Mel later shared two separate clips of her attempts on Instagram and explained that it was her first time practising Olympic trap shooting in six years.

She penned: 'I could shoot Olympic trap all day long. For those asking about hitting targets, I hit plenty today and this was one of them but we don’t celebrate them. 

'It’s just one station at a time one shot at at time and focus and correction if needed x it’s just a pleasure to be out there. Realising muscle memory and the feel of my gun after 6 years away'.

Aside from her impressive skills, Mel recently hit out at Keith Lemon as she branded men 'basic and limited' during a rant about her love life.

Earlier this month, the presenter said she felt 'sorry' for British men as she let rip at the ITV2 star during an interview for her own Frank magazine.

'Sadly, in all realms of life, most men are pretty basic and disappointing,' she said. 'I feel a bit sorry for British men who have adopted the limited vocabulary of the television character Keith Lemon when talking about and to women.

'I would be surprised, and indeed it would be a miracle, if any of these men are actually getting laid', the TV personality added. 

Mel has previously appeared on Celebrity Juice where comedian Leigh Francis takes on the persona of host Keith.

Keith, who is the alter ego of Leigh Francis, said: 'I reached out to her and asked why she didn’t like me. She said, "It’s not you, it’s your on-screen persona".

The star then noted some of his career achievements over the years as he defended himself.

He said: 'Well if anyone’s watching and you have a limited vocabulary, you can still win two Baftas and two NTAs. I don’t want to boast about all the things I’ve won.'

Elsewhere, Mel was previously married to Daniel Caltagirone between 2001 and 2009 and the couple share two sons Roman and Valentino.

Her second marriage to Jack Cockings ended in 2016 and she has since enjoyed romances with the likes of Jamie Theakston, Martin Kaymer and Olly Murs.

And Mel has been focusing on self-improvement after she was left 'gutted' when her relationship with Steve Coogan, 54, came to an end last year.

It it thought she began to grow increasingly concerned the Alan Partridge star didn't want to settle down with her amid their largely low-key romance.
