Other wife found on Facebook: One wife writes to the other wife online, The power of social network is seen again today when a newlywed woman finds out that her new husband is already married. She finds this out when the first Mrs.. Keyet writes the new Mrs.. Keyet on Facebook, according to News.co au on April 15, 2013.
A 38-year-old Melbourne woman married a 40-year-old partner in a civil ceremony. The Family Court heard that the couple's celebrant had asked for evidence to confirm the man's divorce....REPORTED...examiner.
The man explained both to the court and his new wife that his marriage from 16 years earlier was never valid and therefore there was no documentation of the marriage or a divorce. That is until Facebook came into play!
Not long after the couple exchanged their nuptials, the new Mrs. Keyet got a message on Facebook from a woman calling herself the "old Mrs. Keyet." Here is a line from the Facebook post:
"Hello, new Mrs. Keyet. How can you be Mrs. Keyet when I am still Mrs. Keyet? From the old Mrs. Keyet," it said.
The new Mrs. Keyet replied back to the woman and she suggested that "the old Mrs. Keyet" check her marriage records because her marriage was never valid. The old Mrs.. Keyet provided proof of the marriage, but the new wife still needed to search divorce records to make sure what the old wife was telling her was the truth. Unable to find any divorce record on her new husband and his first wife, she left her new husband. The new Mrs.. Keyet was granted an annulment from the court.
Mr. Keyet did not appear in court, he did however send a text message to his now annulled second wife saying, "I think I've put you through enough hurt." The woman has requested that bigamy charges be thrust upon her former husband.
