N.J. girls murder video created by the two 12-year-old girl from jersey city threatening to kill Seventh Grade Classmates. The video was uploaded to the popular video site youtube and later it was removed from youtube. Two seventh-grade girls in New Jersey have been suspended from classes and may face criminal charges for allegedly threatening to kill about a dozen of their classmates in a YouTube video.
According to CBS New York, the two youngsters, who have not been identified, listed several classmates and administrators who they "want to kill" in the 21-minute long clip, which has since been pulled from YouTube. One of the girls had allegedly also read out the alarming list to a group of classmates in school.
Jackie Quinones, a parent of one of the students allegedly threatened with murder, said the two seventh-graders named "10 to 12 classmates " in their hitlist.
“My daughter called me from the [school] bathroom,’’ Quinones told the Paterson Press of her 12-year-old child. “She was so scared she was crying.”
The school's administrators were informed of the girls' alleged murder plot, and the case is now under investigation by local police, according to the New York Daily News.
“It’s serious enough for us to have this investigated, especially because of the current climate we’re in,’’ said Mayor Jeffery Jones on Thursday, according to the Press. “Let’s hope that it was just frustrations and emotions and they didn’t mean anything, but we can’t sit back and just hope.’’ according to Huffingtonpost
As CBS New York notes, it is unclear if the two seventh-graders meant to carry out their threats, though Mayor Jones says students were in all likelihood never at real risk. Parents of students who were named in the hitlist say the two girls are now "receiving medical evaluation."
Many parents were upset that school officials didn’t address the situation sooner. During a special meeting at School 27 on Thursday, Mayor Jeffrey Jones said that he didn’t believe that the girls posed a serious threat to students and faculty.
Mayor Jones explained to the concerned parents:
“I’ve not been given any specific details, but all indications are no. It’s serious enough for us to have this investigated, especially because of the current climate we’re in.
