A section of a major road in northern England is closed this evening after a young child reportedly fell from a car.
The A180, which runs from the M180 motorway to Cleethorpes, near Grimsby, is closed westbound near Birchin Way after the incident, which is thought to involve a black Kia.
A passing motorists told Grimsby Live that he had seen a young child being cradled by an adult in the middle of the carriageway.
A second eyewitness added that the child, thought to be around three years old, fell out of the side door of the vehicle, which is yet to be confirmed by authorities.

Grismby Live reported that after the child was taken to hospital, Humberside Police carried out safety checks on the vehicle.
They added that the driver, a man wearing a grey vest and shorts, was interviewed by officers.

A tweet by Humberside Police read: 'Emergency Services are currently dealing with an incident on the A180 at the Birchin Way roundabout and closures are currently in place.
'Please avoid the area were possible.'
