Pictured: Solicitor, 37, 'who injected food with BLOOD as he went on rampage in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose'

A solicitor has appeared in court charged with contaminating or interfering with goods with blood at three supermarkets in west London.

Leoaai Elghareeb, of Fulham, appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

Officers in forensic suits were seen in Fulham Palace Road on Thursday at three stores - a Tesco Express, Little Waitrose and Sainsbury's Local - after the incidents on Wednesday evening.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council advised shoppers to throw away anything bought from the three shops late on Wednesday.

Elghhareeb lives alone in a first floor flat in a modern development just yards from the River Thames in Fulham, south west London.

Neighbours spoke of their shock at his arrest and appearance in court on charges of interfering with good with intent.

One said:' We hardly every see him. He lives alone and I don't think I have ever spoken to him. We pass each other on the stairs, but that is about it.'

Another said:' I have just moved into this block and can't believe that. We all saw about what happened on the news. It is scary to think he lives in the same block.

Homes in the four storey block are a mixture of rented and home ownership

Mr Elghareeb is listed as being a solicitor for a firm called Opus Legal contractors with the offices registered at his Fulham address.

The three supermarkets allegedly targeted are less than half a mile from 37 year old Mr Elghareeb's home close to Fulham FC stadium.

The nearest, a Waitrose, remained closed while experts carry out tests to determined what had allegedly been injected into ready meals on sale.

A Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express on the Fulham Palace Road also remained closed.

Shoppers have been told to dispose of any food bought from the three stores.

Homes and flats in the area where Mr Elghareeb lives sell for upwards of £1.5m.
