New Zealand minister's TV interview is VERY rudely interrupted when her son bursts in waving a phallic carrot

This is the hilarious moment a New Zealand minister’s live TV interview was rudely interrupted when her son burst in waving a carrot that looked like male genitals.

Carmel Sepuloni, 44, the minister for social development, was in the middle of a live Zoom interview with Radio Samoa, when her young son entered the room excitedly to show his mother the oddly-shaped vegetable he had found in the groceries.

In the clip, which has over 70,000 views online, Carmel hastily apologised to the host when her son entered, saying: 'Hang on a second, my son's just in the room.'

However, her grinning son continued to hold up the phallic carrot, unknowingly showing it off to the camera, and forcing his embarrassed mother to 'wrestle' with him to hold it down and leave the room.

She is heard explaining to him that she is live on air, saying: 'I'm doing an interview and I'm online,' as her son responded, 'Ohh'.

The minister later took to Twitter to recount the funny incident, saying that while she was mortified at the time, she was able to laugh about it now.

She wrote: 'That moment when you’re doing a LIVE interview via Zoom & your son walks into the room shouting & holding a deformed carrot shaped like a male body part.

'Yes, we were almost wrestling over a carrot on camera, and yes, I’m laughing about it now but wasn’t at the time!'

Carmel continued: 'A big up’s to all our parents working from home and parenting at the same time — I see you! *Note to self: I will never buy the odd shaped carrot pack again.'

She is the latest public figure to suffer embarrassment at the hands of their children during a live Zoom interview from their home office.

The minister later took to Twitter to share the funny video, which has recieved over 71,000 views, saying that while she was mortified at the time, she was able to laugh about it now

The most well-known example was from March 2017, when Professor Robert Kelly, an expert on South Korean politics, became a global superstar after his serious interview on the BBC was gatecrashed by his curious children and stressed-out wife.

His appearance on BBC News via a video link became an instant sensation after his daughter Marion, then four, burst into her father's office as he was live on air, with her baby brother James hot on her heels in his walker.

Their unflappable father, who was offering his expert insights on South Korean politics to BBC News, managed to ignore the chaos behind him as his wife Jung-a Kim rushed into the room to remove their excitable children - but not before the pair became a hit with the public.
