Moment e-scooter rider goes flying into the water when he tries to ride along flooded East End street

This is the moment a man riding an e-scooter decided to ride through a flooded London street, but ended up getting a soaking. 

Musician Karl Williams, 34, filmed the incident in the East End on July 25 as the capital was hit by record rainfall, with homes, Tube stations and roads deluged. 

He had diverted off his usual route to work near West Ham station to avoid flooding when he spotted the scooter rider braving the deep waters.

In the footage, which Mr Williams' shared to his Instagram account, the musician shows the flooded street as he drives along it. 

Williams captions the video: 'Keep watching until the end.'  

A few seconds later he notices the e-scooter rider slowly making his way along the pavement towards a deep-looking section of water.

After he ventures into the water he initially makes good progress until he apparently hits an obstacle.

The scooter suddenly stops and tips the rider into the water, to Mr Williams' evident amusement.

The rider flew off the scooter and into the floodwaters on the side of the road 

Users in the comments shared Williams' amusement at the rider's fate. 

One Instagram user wrote: 'That's what you call being in the right place at the right time.'

Another wrote: 'Seems like he needed a jet ski.'  

'I'll get him one', Williams jokingly replied.  

The capital's St James's Park was the wettest part of the country on Sunday with 41.8mm of rain.

The average rainfall for July in London is 45mm, meaning almost a month's worth of rain fell in one 24-hour period. 

Showers are expected to continue in the southern region with a wet weekend forecast ahead.
