Boy, 13, is stabbed repeatedly in Asda car park 'by gang of four men armed with knives' as police hunt attackers

A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being repeatedly stabbed by a gang of four men in an Asda car park.

The teenager is in a serious but stable condition after the attack in Manchester on Saturday night and the knifemen are still on the run, police said.

Officers responded to reports of the stabbing outside the supermarket on Stanley Grove, Longsight, shortly after 7.10pm on Saturday.  

One worker, who did not want to be named, told The Sun:'There was a lot of shouting with people in the car park.

'A woman screamed: ''Help he's just a boy. He's bleeding - he's been stabbed.'' People came to his aid but he wasn't moving.

'I couldn't see too clearly what was happening. But an ambulance soon arrived. It was terrible.'

Witness Mike Winston, 18, said: 'I saw police everywhere trying to catch those who did it.

'It's shocking four men attacked him. I heard one had a knife to his throat before they ran off.'

A force spokesman said four men, armed with large bladed weapons, were seen approaching the boy before attacking him and fleeing towards Stanley Grove.

They are all described as wearing dark tracksuits with hoods.

One man was wearing a black gilet over an Adidas tracksuit, with the hood up, and had a Gucci bag across his body.

He was wearing a black face mask with a black and white patterned bandana on his head, police said.

Detective Inspector Daniel Hadfield said: 'This incident was nothing short of shocking.

'A 13-year-old boy has suffered some very serious injuries at the hands of four men, and we're doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

'I understand incidents like this cause concern within the community but I want to stress that we have a team of detectives carrying out several lines of inquiry, including area searches and CCTV analysis. A cordon remains in place today whilst inquiries are carried out at the scene.
