Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is arrested for DUI after crashing his car and sustaining 'minor injuries' following the team's season finale

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was arrested for drunk driving early Monday morning after allegedly wrecking his car while impaired.

Jacobs, 22, was involved in a single-vehicle car crash at 4:42am local time near the Las Vegas Airport, according to police, who say he was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries before being brought to Clark County Detention Center and booked for DUI. Jacobs was described by police as 'impaired.'

The Raiders (8-8) ended their season on Sunday with a win over the Broncos in Denver. It's unclear if the team flew back to Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport, and if so, when it landed and if Jacobs was on board when it did.

When asked about those details in an email from the Daily Mail, a team spokesperson responded with the club's statement without addressing any specific question: 'The Raiders are aware of the situation involving Josh Jacobs. The organization takes these matters seriously and we have no further comment at this time.'

According to police, the crash occurred 'near the Airport Connector and East Sunset Road'

'On January 4, 2021, at approximately 4:42am, LVMPD Traffic responded to a single vehicle collision near the Airport Connector and East Sunset Road,' read a statement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

'The investigation revealed that the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Joshua Jacobs, was impaired. He was transported to a local hospital due to minor injuries resulting from the collision. After treatment, he was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he was booked for DUI.'

Jacobs's attorneys David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld have denied the drunk driving allegation in a statement.

'No complaint has been filed against our client and there are no blood test results to support a suggestion of impairment,' Jacobs's attorneys said in their statement. 'We intend to enter a not guilty plea on behalf of Mr. Jacobs if he is ever charged.'

Just as he's done all season, Jacobs played well on Sunday, gaining 89 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. For the season, the former first-round pick has 1,065 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Jacobs is signed to a four-year, $12 million deal and earned $1 million for the 2020 season.
