Woolworths frozen prawn recall is expanded to all but one state over fears bacterial contamination will make thousands of families sick on Christmas
Woolworths Cooked and Peeled Cocktail Prawns 1kg have been recalled
A Woolworths frozen prawns recall just days before Christmas has been expanded to all but one state over fears of contamination.
The recall for the Woolworths-branded Cooked and Peeled Cocktail Prawns was issued on Wednesday - just two days before December 25.
The recall said the popular Christmas Day delicacy was on shelves in Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and Western Australia, as well at Woolworths Metro stores in Victoria.
But an update has revealed the impacted prawns were also available to buy at Woolworths stores in New South Wales, Tasmania and the ACT.
Queensland is the only state not impacted.
The recall was released following fears the prawns could be subject to 'potential microbial contamination'.

'Food products with potential microbial contamination may cause illness if consumed,' the recall reads.
The impacted prawns - which come in a 1kg bag - have a best before date of February 21, 2022.
Woolworths customers who purchased the prawns are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
