This was the scene police were confronted with when they arrived at a unit where a woman was stabbed to death by her jealous ex-boyfriend.
Former soldier Dane Andrew Pilcher killed Corinne Henderson, 32, at her Townsville apartment in September 2015 by stabbing her in the face and neck with a knife 21 times.
'I've killed my partner, my ex-partner,' Pilcher casually told triple-zero operators.

His brutal attack came after he saw a photo on social media of Ms Henderson at the Townsville Races with her new boyfriend.

They soon found Ms Henderson's body in a pool of blood.
A knock coming from inside the bathroom door was then heard, where Ms Henderson's new boyfriend Dwayne Wickham was hiding.

During Pilcher's trial, Mr Wickham told the court that Ms Henderson told him to hide.
In the footage, an officer could be heard telling Ms Henderson's new beau to unlock the door.
'We've got him in custody, unlock the door. It's the police, get out,' the officer said.
Mr Wickham responded: 'I don't want to go down there with him because he's coming after me, that's all.'
Police handcuffed Mr Wickham, although he was never accused of any wrongdoing.
At Pilcher's sentencing in the Supreme Court in Townsville on Wednesday, crown prosecutor Aaron Dunkerton said the jury's verdict determined Pilcher had 'murderous intent' during the rampage.

Justice David North said the only sentence for murder was life imprisonment.
'True it is that you pleaded guilty to manslaughter and you somewhat belatedly acknowledged your responsibility for the unlawful killing of Corinne Henderson,' he said.
'Your attack upon her occurred in the context of an obsessive, jealous rage because Corinne Henderson had ended your relationship and had bestowed her affections upon another.'
