Hunt for hit-and-run driver in red VW Polo after cyclist is left with major head injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses after a suspected hit and run which left a cyclist with major head injuries.

Surrey Police were called to Hardwick Lane in Chertsey shortly after 11am on Sunday following reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist. The cyclist was taken to hospital.

An investigation has been launched and officers are checking CCTV footage from the area.

Officers are looking for a red Volkswagen polo, thought to be involved in the incident, that did not stop at the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage or any other information is asked to contact Surrey Police quoting the reference PR/P20297628.

Information can be provided over the phone by calling 101 or on the Surrey Police website, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
